Ekspert giver for første gang 4 danskere topkarakter
Denmark entered this game knowing that a win would guarantee their ticket to the semi-finals after Iceland’s defeat against Croatia. However, Denmark joined full strength, with Jacob Holm and Johan Hensen as newcomers.
The Netherlands started the game with a deep 5:1 on the Danish playmaker, guided by Mikkel Hensen. Still, it presented many difficulties to stop Mikkel Hensen and Mathias Gidsel, who started another handball recital. Mikkel Hensen making plays opened spaces for everything and every one with excellent assists for all tastes. Unable to stop the Danish offensive, the Netherlands took their chances on the counter-goal, successful on three occasions. The Danish defense has presented itself with an aggressive and deep 6:0, which several times turned into a 5:1 pressing the playmaker. And so it was, the Netherlands couldn’t take advantage of the organized attacks, and the Danish avalanche in transitions was trampling everything and everyone.
At halftime, Denmark was already leading by a nine-goal difference, where the effectiveness of the attacking transitions stood out, with 82% and nine goals in eleven attempts. In terms of effectiveness in organized attacks, Denmark had 58% against the Netherlands 37%.
In goal, Niklas Landin ended the first half with nine saves, 43% effectiveness, while the Danish team had 78% effectiveness in shots, with twenty-one goals in twenty-seven attempts.
The second half didn’t give much history to the game. Denmark continued with the foot on the gas. Mathias Gidsel would make another great game with 100% effectiveness. There was also the opportunity to give some minutes to several players, including Kevin Moller, who would make ten saves in a game, whereas Ramus Lauge and Jensen would make ten saves in a match Mollgaard were spared.
At the end of the game, Denmark would win 35:23 against the Netherlands with efficiency in fast transitions of 82%, a shooting efficiency of 72% and a goalkeeping efficiency of 43%.
